Description
Above a restless crowd, Esmeralda raises water to Quasimodo on the pillory. Her pale embroidered dress and the white goat stand apart from the dark heads and lifted hands below. The vertical composition sets a small act of mercy high above the public spectacle.
This hand-painted oil-on-canvas reproduction recreates A Tear for a Drop of Water by Luc-Olivier Merson. Merson takes the subject from Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame de Paris. The painting moves between the two central figures, the surrounding rooftops and the many individual reactions in the crowd.
Made to order in oil on canvas. Choose from the available reproduction sizes and framing options. The complete composition is retained, with attention to the relationships between the figures, colour and light.
