Museum quality oil paintings, painted by hand.
Museum quality is not a label on a box. It is a standard every canvas has to meet before it leaves our studio: real oil, real canvas, a painter’s hand on every stroke, and a final check against the original.
What museum quality means at ByMuseum
Six things every painting has to get right. If one of them is missing, the canvas does not leave the studio.
Real oil paint
Every painting is made with oil paint on primed artist canvas. No prints, no printed base under a few brushstrokes, no AI.
A painter’s own drawing
The composition is drawn on the canvas by hand. Nothing is traced or projected, so the work starts as a painting, not a copy.
Built in layers
Oil goes on layer over layer, and each one is left to set before the next. That is where the depth and the raised texture come from.
Faithful to the original
Our painters study the original from museum references first: its palette, its light and the direction of each brush mark.
Checked before it ships
A second person checks every finished canvas against the original. If it does not hold up, it does not ship.
Ready for your wall
It arrives rolled in a protective tube, gallery wrapped on wooden bars, or framed in one of our five hand-finished frames.
The ridges are paint.
These close-ups come from photos of finished ByMuseum canvases, taken in our studio before they shipped. Every raised edge is a brushstroke. A print is flat; here you can see the paint catch the light.
How a hand-painted canvas compares
Many “oil paintings” sold online are canvas prints, or prints with a few strokes added on top. Here is what changes when every stroke is painted.

Choose how it arrives
The painting is the same in every option. What changes is how it reaches your wall.
Oil cannot be rushed. We do not try.
Each painting is started when you order it, and each layer has to set before the next goes on. Here is what that means for you.
