Description
Cascade near Lake George by John Frederick Kensett places a waterfall in a deep cleft between tall rock walls. The pale stream drops from an opening near the upper center, descends in several short stages, and reaches a broad pool at the bottom. Rough stone rises along both sides, with trees and tangled foliage extending across the top of the ravine. A few light branches and leaves cut into the darker rock, but the water remains the brightest and most continuous feature. Cascade near Lake George by John Frederick Kensett is reproduced by hand in oil on canvas.
