Description
Eastern Mountain Lake by John Frederick Kensett opens across still water toward a distant shore. Dark trees cluster at the left, where a broad bank projects into the lake. Across the middle distance, a low wooded strip divides the water from the pale sky, and soft mountain forms rise behind it on the right. The lake occupies much of the lower half, reflecting the muted colors of the banks and sky. Its open surface gives the composition a calm, horizontal rhythm. This hand-painted oil-on-canvas reproduction of Eastern Mountain Lake by John Frederick Kensett is made for display.
