Description
Hudson River Scene by John Frederick Kensett looks down from a wooded height toward broad water enclosed by mountains. Dark trees and rough rock occupy the foreground, leaving an opening through the center. Beyond this opening, a bright stretch of river or lake reflects the sky. Large slopes rise at left and right, narrowing the view toward a distant passage in the middle. The foreground vegetation forms a dark frame around the illuminated water. Hudson River Scene by John Frederick Kensett is reproduced by hand in oil on canvas.
