Description
Prometheus Bound by Jacob Jordaens depicts a nude figure stretched against a rocky setting as a large dark bird spreads its wings above him. Other figures crowd the lower part of the scene, while a pale sky opens behind the bird. The diagonal body and raised wings create a dramatic arrangement. As a hand-painted oil-on-canvas reproduction, the painting shows the contrast of light flesh, dark plumage and rugged landscape.
